Evaluation of TraÆc on High-Loaded Multisegment Network

چکیده
The traÆc of LAN on large distributed workstation system for educational use has the high-load and high-trangiency. We developed an event-driven simulationmodel for analysis of such a high-loaded network. It has detailed models of multi-layer protocols, applications and user behavior model. In this paper a method to apply this model to multi-segment networks is discussed. Routing tables of network layer and datalink layer are used for describing the network topology of the multi-segment network.

A Modeling and Simulation Method for Transient TraÆc LAN
In this paper a protocol-based modeling and simulation method of performance evaluation for heavy traÆc and transient LAN is proposed. In the method a node on a LAN is modeled as a set of detailed communication protocol models. By parallel and event driven processing of the models, high accuracy and high time-resolution of evaluation of LAN behaviors can be obtained at multi-layer protocols. Th...
متن کاملImpact of TraÆc Handling on Internet Capacity
This paper describes the impact of traÆc handling mechanisms on network capacity for support of Quality of Service (QoS) in the Internet. The emergence of applications with diverse throughput, loss and delay requirements requires a network that is capable of supporting di erent levels of service as opposed to the single best-e ort service that was the foundation of the Internet. As a result the...
متن کاملNetwork TraÆc Behaviour in Switched Ethernet Systems
Measurements on a high-performance switched Ethernet system are presented that reveal new insights into the statistical nature of le server and web server traÆc. Both le sizes and data requested from the web server are shown to match well a truncated Cauchy distribution. This is a distribution with heavy tails similar in nature to the commonly used Pareto distribution but with a much better t o...
متن کاملInternet TraÆc Shaping for IP over WDM Links with Source Output Bu ering or Multiple Parallel Wavelengths
Since the number of wavelengths per ber is growing in an exponential fashion the overow traÆc can be routed through over ow lightpaths, thus providing an ideal network with near-in nite capacity and almost no-bu ering. Such unprecedented bandwidth growth in the network backbone is only limited by the processing speed of the electronic elements. Even though multiple parallel high-speed channels ...
